The Museum has an extensive collection of photographs depicting matches, teams, individuals, dinners, official presentations and more. They range from sepia through black and white to colour photographs and some slides. As yet they are not all fully catalogued or indexed but the Museum has plans to digitise the collection to make it available to a wider audience.
The images range from personal snaps to professional photography, starting in the 1890s through to the present day. They give a fascinating insight into the development of the game and the people that played, officiated and supported over the last 115 years: images of club hockey from local matches, tours, tournaments, dinners etc., through to Olympic and World hockey events. We have a multitude of action shots and portraits received via donated collections, from clubs histories or from retired or current players. The identification and recording of many will not be easy and will take some time and lots of research, so if you have any examples or expertise, your help and advice will be gratefully accepted.
