The Hockey Museum (THM) has a growing collection of films.
The collection covers a range of topics from events and matches such as those at the 5th International Federation of Women's Hockey Associations (IFWHA) Triennial Conference and Tournament played at Folkestone in 1953 and women's internationals played at Wembley Stadium, to educational film loops produced by the Hockey Association (HA) and the All England Women's Hockey Association (AEWHA).
In July 2016, THM was awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to enable it to digitise its collection of nearly 100 reels of old hockey films. Read more about the project here. These films are now hosted on YouTube and can be streamed through THM website by exploring the genres under this heading.
In addition to the reels of cine film, THM also holds a collection of VHS video tapes. These range from home recorded events to professionally produced tapes and are gradually being digitised. The museum also holds other video types such as BetaMax as well as several others which remain unidentified and cannot therefore be viewed.
If you think you can help with our work to digitise the film collection, would like to donate any films or videos or would like further information, please contact the Museum.
