Our clothing collection includes kit from over 125 years of the 'modern' game. Our oldest items were worn by Wimbledon Hockey Club Ladies players; the most recent garments were worn by the Great Britain Ladies in the London 2012 Olympics. It also includes many male and female Olympic, Commonwealth Games, International, County and Club kits and uniforms for players, officials and umpires from the 1900s onwards.
The Museum is very interested in developing its collection of club kit from all eras. Goalkeeping kit through the ages is also included, although very little protective equipment (usually only cricket pads and blazers) was used by 'keepers in the early days of hockey compared to the multiple items now in use.
All received items are catalogued and carefully hung on customised, padded hangers in tyvek covers or boxed, wrapped in and padded with acid-free tissue paper. If you are interested in finding out more or are thinking of donating or loaning any clothing or kit to The Hockey Museum, please get in touch through the online form.
