Getting To The Hockey Museum

THM is located in the heart of Woking Town Centre resulting in excellent access to public transport. We are located just minutes from Woking's bus and train stations (see: Google Maps; buses run along The Broadway into High Street).
There are also a number of pay-and-display car parks sited locally for visitors to park in (see: Woking Borough Council map) but direct access to THM is problematic due to restricted vehicular access to High Street. There is no parking along High Street at any time and there are cameras. We recommend that the only time visitors drive directly to the Museum is if they wish to drop off weighty or unweildy collection offers (artefacts or archives offered for donation to the Museum's collection). In this instance, visitors must contact THM days in advance so that we can request access for you from the Council or you risk being in receipt of a fine. Vehicles granted access to High Street through this method will only be able to unload temporarily before having to move on and park in a public car park.
Accessibility
In spite of the vehicular access restrictions along High Street, the road enjoys recently rennovated pedestrian access with wide, flat pavements.
THM recognises that its current premises is not ideally suited to disabled access and is pursuing avenues to improve access to and within its premises.
There is currently two-step access to the front door of the museum, but we do have a wheelchair ramp funded by the Woking Lions Club. Inside THM, the primary exhibition space is located on the ground floor, which does have an occassionally uneven flagstone surface. Visitor routes within the exhibition space are wide enough for wheelchairs and museum exhibits and signage are located at accessible heights. The only access to the first floor in via stairs, though there are limited displays in this area.
Visitors to Woking can call upon the town's Shopmobility service should they require aid in getting to the Museum. Prior registration is required; see their website for details.
The Museum provides large format text for visually impaired visitors, however, there are no audio guides available at present. Currently, there are no transcriptions available for audio interpretation, though THM has plans to introduce this in the future.
If you have any other specific requirements related to access, please use the website contact form prior to arriving.
Facilities
THM has no public toilet on site but there is an excellent facility, including disabled toilets, very nearby in Wolesey Place shopping centre (map and directions are available from THM).
With regard to refreshments: being in the centre of Woking, there are a multitude of eating a drinking establishments on the Museum's doorstep.
